DNS set up instructions for Advisor Sites

If you are self-managing your DNS (Domain Name Servers) settings for your domain you will need to set your DNS settings correctly as described below.

Please do not attempt to do this yourself unless you are familiar with managing DNS. Use the Technical Support Number provided by your domain registrar where your domain name was purchased, or visit their website to access their technical support center.

The following are the settings required for a typical domain. ("domain.com" is a fictitious domain. Your records will show your own actual domain.)

Special Notes:

* The IP address 199.59.136.220 is NOT linked to any single domain name. It is used for multiple websites and will not be specifically used for to your domain name; hence, entering the IP address into a browser will yield a message similar to "server not found".

* Make sure to enter the "CNAME" entry that points the WWW or any other sub zone to rd230.emeraldhost.net.

* DO NOT change the domain NS records unless instructed to do so by Emerald Tech Support or your Registrars' Tech Support.

* Do Not Change the MX records unless instructed to do so by Emerald Tech Support or your Registrars' Tech Support.
